Learning a language effectively is tough, however the value of a bilingual education cannot be overemphasized, hence the bilingual policy. MOE’s Mother Tongue Language Policy requires students to take a respective mother tongue language for Primary School Leaving Examination (PSLE), Singapore-Cambridge GCE Ordinary Level (‘O’ Level) and Singapore-Cambridge GCE Advanced Level (‘A’ Level). Be it Chinese, Malay or Tamil, most Singaporeans have grown up being able to converse in at least 1 non-english language.
