Incoming international students are also expected to take the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) English test to ascertain English proficiency before being able to be admitted into public universities, local polytechnics and foreign universities and institutes in Singapore. National University of Singapore and Nanyang Technological University have a minimum IELTS score of 6.5 and 6 respectively.
