How do I create my tuition centre listing?

Creating/claiming your listing is easy and takes less than 5 minutes. Simply go to this link .

From the link, you’ll be able to search if your centre’s listing already exists.

If your listing has already been created for you, click on the “Claim Listing” at the bottom of the page, and verify that the listing belongs to you via the Phone Call Verification.

If you are unable to find any listings created on your behalf, you may click on “Create a New Listing” on your account dashboard to start a new listing.

Help! Somebody has claimed my listing. How can I claim it back?

If your listing cannot be claimed / has been claimed by another business, please write to us at , with the all available information about the listing in question, and evidence (documents, photos and contact) that support your business’s claim to this listing.

SmileTutor will take any necessary action upon the conclusion of a thorough investigation.

How is my tuition centre listing ranked during searches?

Tuition centres are primarily sorted using an algorithm which ranks tuition centres based on the subjects selected, distance from the preferred location and price range, featured account status, completeness of their listings, reviews and contact responsiveness.

Do I need to add in the class details, such as the schedule and pricing? How does it help me?

We have many users on our website actively looking for tuition classes to join. Therefore, it is extremely beneficial for your tuition centre to provide an updated and complete list of classes available to attract new students.

SmileTutor provides student referrals to your centre when a student requests to book a slot in your class via our services, and we will help to coordinate the class booking process for a small student referral commission.

What are the Unique Cover Photo and Awards & Testimonials? Why can’t I access them?

Both the Unique Cover Photo and Awards & Testimonials are special tools within our paid Featured account subscription.

Having a Featured subscription plan (Business or Enterprise plans) gives you access to edit and display your very own Unique Cover Photo and Awards & Testimonials on your listings, in addition to the many other tools that will increase your exposure, referral rate and ranking on our website.

What are Student Referrals?

There are 2 ways you can receive student referrals from us; when a student books a class listed in your listing, or when we recommend your tuition centre to a student looking for a tuition class.

When a student books a class from your tuition centre, you will receive a call from SmileTutor to confirm the booking. For recommendations, we’ll contact you to ask for available classes to offer to the prospective student. In either case, once the booking is confirmed, you will receive an email for the successful student referral.

What can my tuition centre do to get more student referrals?

Active tuition centre listings with clear and comprehensive information on class details, favourable ratings and reviews, and a good track record with us will receive more student referrals.

To receive more student referrals, we advise tuition centres to:

1. Maintain a completed and comprehensive listings (with classes, fees, photos and policies)
2. Be responsive to the phone calls and emails made to your tuition centre by our coordinators
3. Introduce your students to review and rate your tuition centre here

Can I reject a student referral? Can I opt out?

Yes. If you find that there are issues in enrolling the student, you may reject our student referral. We will then refer the student to the next shortlisted tuition centre. However, your tuition centre may have a lower priority when shortlisting recommendations in the future.

I have accepted a student referral. What can I expect?

Our coordinators will forward you the student details and an invoice for the student referral. Once the student has made the first tuition fees to you, you will be required to pay the referral commission to SmileTutor.

Can you tell me about the role of SmileTutor in my tuition classes?

SmileTutor provides class booking services for parents and students. As such, we will only help to confirm the booking for the first lesson.

Once the booking confirmation email is sent, you are required to liaise directly with the parents/students.

Any changes to the lessons during the first 4-weeks of tuition lessons should be made known by you to SmileTutor.

How should clients pay for their lessons at my tuition centre?

Clients will pay directly to your tuition centre, and they will need to adhere to your payment instructions and methods.

We strongly encourage tuition centres to post their payment policies on their listing (OTHERS Section) so that both the clients and the tuition centres have a common understanding of the tuition centre’s policies and to avoid any complications/objections after the booking is confirmed.

Once the booking is confirmed, you are required to liaise directly with the parent and not to SmileTutor.

Will clients postpone lessons dates & timings?

Clients are allowed to postpone their first lessons. All postponements of lessons must be made at least 24 hours in advance of lessons, except for special cases (such as medical emergencies).

The postponement / change requests will be made directly to your tuition centre by the client. Please contact us at 6266 4495 to inform us of any postponement of lessons within the first 4-weeks of lessons as it may affect the agency commission due date/amount.

We strongly encourage tuition centres to post their cancellation and postponement policies on their listing (OTHERS Section) so that both the clients and the tuition centres have a common understanding of the tuition centre’s policies and to avoid any complications/objections after the booking is confirmed.

Can I cancel or change the lesson schedule?

Yes, of course. All postponements of lessons must be made known to the parents/students at least 24 hours in advance of lessons, except for special cases (such as medical emergencies). Please also contact us at 6266 4495 to inform us of any changes made to the lessons within the first 4-weeks of lessons as it may affect the agency commission due date/amount.

How much is the student referral commission?

In general, SmileTutor will collect 50% of the tuition fees for the first 4 weeks as the student referral commission.

Example: Student books a twice-weekly class at a tuition centre. The student will pay a total of $480 for the 8 lessons over 4 weeks. As the student referral commission is 50% of the tuition fees for the first 4 weeks, the tuition centre will be charged $240 (50% of $480) as the student referral commission.

Please note that for short-term assignments or special cases, the commission may be different:

Case 1: Changes to Lesson Frequency or Duration

If the lesson frequency or duration is not uniform, SmileTutor will determine the commission based on the long-term duration or frequency of lessons.

Case 2: Adding of Subjects / Siblings

If client wants to try out one subject first and then add more subjects subsequently, the commission shall apply to the extra subjects/lessons/students, subject to a time limit of 6 months from the original tuition arrangement. Tuition centres and tutees are expected to inform their coordinators of any added lessons immediately.

Case 3: Short-Term Assignments

Short-term assignments are defined by students who only require a fixed number of lessons until a certain exam date (usually less than 8 weeks of lessons). Long-term assignments that are terminated due to various reasons are NOT considered as short-term assignments.

For short-term assignments (a.k.a crash courses) we generally collect 25% of the TOTAL tuition fee but the exact percentages may differ and we will let the tuition centres know beforehand.

SmileTutor is committed to protect the welfare of our tuition centres. For short-term assignments only, our commission shall not exceed 25% of the tuition centre’s total earnings.

How is the student referral commission paid?

After a class booking is confirmed, you should receive an email containing the details of the student referral. Click on the “Make Payment” button to pay for the student referral using your credit/debit card on our secure checkout page.

This commission is due to be paid within 2 weeks from the starting date of the class – generally, this will be when the tuition fees are equivalent to the agency commission.

For special cases, the payment due date may vary, but it will be stated clearly within the invoice.

How much do I need to pay if the class is cancelled within the first 4 weeks?

For students / tuition centres cancelling classes before the start of the first lesson, there will be no student referral commission charged. If you have already made payment to us, we’ll refund the commission.

However if the tuition centre decides to drop out of the assignment after the lessons have commenced but before completing at least 4-weeks of lessons, you are still mandated to pay the full student referral commission.

If the student decides to drop out of the assignment after the lessons have commenced but before completing at least 4-weeks of lessons, the tuition fees (for the completed lessons) will be divided equally between agency and tuition centre. A revised invoice containing the updated payment information will be sent to you.

Example: Student drops out after 3 weeks of lesson on his own accord. Since the tuition centre needs to pay 50% of the tuition fees collected as the student referral commission, SmileTutor will be paid the equivalent of 1.5 weeks of lesson fees.

What are Featured accounts?

Featured accounts are our special subscription accounts available on the website. Featured accounts gain access to special tools that will help your tuition centre listings gain greater exposure, better market to your potential students, and improve your chances of getting a student referral on our website.

What tools are available to Featured accounts?

You can check out this page for a brief overview of the Featured account Tools. In essence, these tools will unlock additional sections on your listing for greater customisation, rank your listing higher during searches and referral requests, and grant you greater control in managing your reviews.

What are the different plans I can subscribe to?

We offer 3 plans; Start-Up, Business, and Enterprise. Start-Up and Business plans are suitable for tuition centre accounts with only 1 tuition centre listing, while the Enterprise plan is suitable for those with 2-3 tuition centre listings.

The Start-Up plan does not include Awards & Testimonials and Recommendations Priority within its set of unlocked tools. You are highly recommended to try out our Business plan (free trial for 14 days).

What are the pricing details for the subscription plans?

The plans are billed for 3-months of subscription, and will automatically recur every 3 months.

If you wish to opt out of the recurring subscription, you can turn it off in the Account Dashboard. You will still enjoy all Featured tools until the end of your billing cycle.
